Log In Problems

If you are having problems logging into WebCT Vista, there are a few things you can try to remedy the problem.

Have you activated your IPFW account?

If your IPFW account is not activated, you will not be able to log into WebCT. If your account is not activated, you can activate it online. Please be aware that once your account is activated, there will be up to a 24 hour delay before you can log into WebCT while your WebCT account is created.

Do you know your IPFW account password?

Try logging into myIPFW with your IPFW username and password. If you are unable to log in, you may be able to reset your password online if you have set up a security question. Go to myIPFW and click the "Forgot username/password?" link. If you do not have a security question set up, you will need to go to the IPFW Help Desk (KT 206) with a photo ID for your password to be reset.

If you are able to log into myIPFW but not able to log into WebCT, keep the following 3 things in mind: 1.) if you activated your account within the last 24 hours, your WebCT account may not have been created yet. 2.) If you registered for classes within the last 24 hours, your WebCT account may not have been created yet. 3.) If the semester has not started yet, you may not have a WebCT account until a few days before the semester begins.

If you believe the above does not apply to you, you may need to perform the browser tune up and make sure you do not have an old password stored in your browser settings.

Use the correct browser

WebCT Vista should be used only with supported browsers. Do not use AOL's browser or any other browser or version not supported by WebCT.

Do you have an IPFW employee account?

If you are an IPFW employee, in most cases, you should use your employee account to log into WebCT. If you do not have your employee username and password, you can contact the Help Desk to set up a new employee orientation. If you are not new to IPFW and just need your employee account password reset, you will need to go to the IPFW Help Desk (KT 206) with a photo ID for your password to be reset.

Did you just register for classes?

You may not be in the WebCT system for up to 24 hours. If the semester has not started, you may not be in the system until a few days before the semester begins.

Are you not registered for classes?

If you are not registered for classes, you may not have an account in WebCT.

Do you have an old password stored in your browser?

If you are trying to log into WebCT and keep getting an error that you have entered an incorrect user name or password before you try logging in, you may have an old password stored in your browser.
